For songwriter and creator Amy Matthew, musical theatre is the ideal meeting place between music and long-form
storytelling.
Through Reflected Lyrical Productions LLC, Matthew has developed five original musicals spanning contemporary music
drama, historical resistance, Mediterranean atmosphere, lifelong friendship and romantic suspense.
The First Verse follows ambitious young artists and anchors an expanding Aria and Luca story universe. 1944: The
Musical uses a developed 23-number structure to follow members of the French Resistance from occupation to
liberation. Athens establishes a Mediterranean-inspired theatrical identity. This Life focuses on friendship, community
and the relationships that endure across a lifetime. Havana adds the emotional danger and international atmosphere of a
romantic thriller.
The projects differ in genre and setting, but share one creative principle: songs must change the characters, move the
story and reveal something dialogue alone cannot express.
